My list of favorite Dallas places is ever-evolving, which means writing blog posts about them doesn’t do much!. I’ll be trying to update this as much as possible for your sake (and mine…because as much fun as typing novel text messages, DMs, and emails are…this list can hopefully be your new assistant 🙂 ). This list should be designed to cover all your needs in the Big D: eats, drinks, & things to do!

Lydiva’s Favorite Restaurants

Cheap Eats:

Thai Thai – Most of my friends were mad this never made one of my original favorite lists…because we all eat it at least once a week. Even after all my Asian cuisine adventures in SF, this is still my favorite Thai place! (Plus, it’s BYOB.)

Greenville Avenue Pizza CompanyThe go-to pizza place on Lower Greenville. I always build my own slice or get the pizza poppers!

RuinsA recent discovery of mine in Deep Ellum. We were happy to find amazing $2 street tacos!

Wabi HouseThe. Best. Ramen. Noodles. Ever. And during lunch every bowl is only $8! My go-to is the Dry Garlic with corn & bok choy and a side of pork belly broth. Make sure to also try their spicy edamame!

Bird BakerySoup, salads, sammies, and combos of all three. They have a spinach & artichoke grilled cheese (yes, as good as it sounds) and the best chicken salad!

Off-Site Kitchen –  Don’t know how it took me so long to have one of their burgers. Their queso fries are also BOMB.

Velvet TacoBest tots ever. I don’t feel the need to say anymore. Get whatever taco you won’t, but don’t miss out on sharing a side of tots!

Bread Zeppelin – Literally the only salad I crave…Washington State, sub cranberries for beets with white balsamic dressing. For you salad haters, you can also get it stuffed into a loaf of bread.

Middle of the Road Meals:

HG SPLY Co. -Classic american restaurant with a healthy twists. Famous for their bowls, frozen moscow mules, and always bumpin’ rooftop.

Sassetta – Such an amazing & affordable Italian spot for the quality of food you get!

Meddlesome Moth – Something on the menu for everyone, including one of the most extensive craft beet lists in the city.

Mr. Mesero – Best margs & mex in Dallas (but 2 micoritas is where you need to cut yourself off). My favorite location is the one McKinney. Never had something on the menu I didn’t like!

Mercat Bistro – Probably the restaurant I get the most questions about. It is my favorite brunch in town! I normally get the quiche & a Peche Mignon (their specialty drink…it’s sparkling rose poured over a ball of frozen fruit & mint), but they have an off-the-menu special of pasta out of a parmesan wheel at dinner Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesdays.

True Food Kitchen – Healthiest meal you’ll have in Dallas for sure (LOL). Lydiva’s favorites include their Inside Out Quinoa Burger, Fish Tacos, Kale Caesar, and Cauliflower.

Rodeo Goat – Dallas staple with the most unreal burger combos. I once had a burger with tots, herbed goat cheese, & a fried egg.

Cane Rosso – The OG Dallas pizza joint. Get the Honey Bastard & the Lady Bird. Both are off the menu. Don’t ask anymore questions or for anymore suggestions.

Ebar Tex-Mex – While the rest of their menu isn’t spectacular, their queso is!

Bad & Bougie Meals

Neighborhood Services – Words will never do this place justice. It’s my favorite filet in the world. Not to mention their amazing appetizers (fried asparagus & voodoo meatballs) along with THE BEST MAC & CHEESE EVER. And seriously, it has the best vibe in the city.

Town Hearth – I have yet to go, but I’ve heard too many incredible things to not share. Definitely somewhere you save for a special occasion.

The Honor Bar – Probably fell in love with this place because it’s also in Beverly Hills, but their dreamy patio also helped.

Uchi – You’ll also see it below because they have the best happy hour in town, but if you want a one-of-a-kind meal experience…this is an absolute must.

Up on Knox – The Yellowfin Tuna is one of my favorite seafood dishes I’ve ever had.

Dolce Riveria – Cute little italian spot with amazing black truffle gnocchi with an incredible wine menu.

Go-to Happy Hours + Watering Holes

Parliament (Tu-Th, 5:00-8:00PM & when it’s raining) – They have some of the best craft cocktails in town, which are $4-$7 during HH. it’s my go-to for an Old Fashioned.

Stirr (M-F, 3:00-7:00PM) – Great rooftop spot in Deep Ellum to grab drinks with $5 bites during HH. My favorite drink of theirs is ‘The Girl from Dallas”.

Uchi’s Sake Social (Daily, 5:00-6:30PM) – I tell everyone it’s THE BEST DEAL in Dallas because (1) $3 sake & (2) the food specials are insane for the quality you get. Most of the items on their happy hour menu are 1/2 the price of what they would be at dinner.

Old Monk – My favorite dreamy little pub in Dallas!

The Tipsy Alchemist – You’ll be paying a pretty penny, but there is nothing like having a drink from a lightbulb…amirite!?

Smithy – Home to my fave drink at the moment (It’s Amore, Spicy).

Library Bar – Bougie bar in the historic Warwick hotel with live music. Every time I go, it makes me feel like I’ve transported to a different era!

Bourbon & Banter – Speakeasy in the basement of the Statler Hotel. Wondering how you get in? Type in the code inside the telephone booth and the wall will mysteriously open!

Waterproof – The Statler’s rooftop bar overlooking downtown. No craft cocktail menu, but a great spot if you want the best view in town.

Dot’s Hop House & Cocktail Courtyard – Best bar in the city for big, big groups.

Atwater Alley – Speakeasy with no menu. Tell the bartenders what you like and trust that they will make your new favorite drink!

Coffee Shops

Royal Blue Grocery – Also known as Viva Lydiva HQ (just kidding), this is the place where I spend most of my workdays when I’m remote. I love it because most tables have their own outlets and they have a great patio with wifi for when Texas weather is cooperating!

Fiction Coffee – A recent discovery of mine, this little coffee shop makes some mean coffee concoctions, including one named after my favorite book!

Ascension – My favorite coffee in Dallas (seriously, even their drip coffee is stellar). The OG is in Oak LAWN, but now they have locations all around the city!

Serve – Bishop Art’s newest digs in a cute old house that has both a great work space and the most ‘gramable acai bowls you’ve ever seen.

Otto’s Coffee & Fine Foods – My new Downtown Dallas go-to for an amazing cup of coffee. If you find yourself down there, make sure to explore the remodeled hotel it’s housed in.
