The Monthly Rewind: July 2017

How is it already August? Seriously, I’ve been freaking out this week at how fast this year is going by! Today, I’m trying something a little new on the blog. But before I do, I just want to say THANK YOU to all you people who have been following along as I started the blog this month. Your support has meant the world to me (seriously!), and I am grateful for your grace with me as I learn what I want this thing to look like. I know I’ve been all over the place lately. 🙂 What I do know is that the vision for Viva has been (and always will be) to share my real life with y’all. And in an effort to do that, I wanted to share what I’ve been up to the past month!

What I Wore

‘Rae’ High Low Maxi Skirt & ‘Veronica’ V-Neck Bodysuit

7C0AF45F-E371-4028-97D4-2898A54FC2BF.jpgBoth of these were by far my favorite purchases of the summer and my go-to outfit. When it’s 100 degrees outside every freakin’ day, you need something cool and comfortable. And let me tell you – I was never a fan of bodysuits until I put on this one. The best thing about it is that you can wear this so many ways! I’ve worn it with skirts, jeans, and shorts, with it both on and off the shoulder.

Pilcro Denim Fringe Skirt

My roommate and I both saw this skirt earlier this summer and knew we had to have it. The denim skirt trend making the return has brought me back to my middle school glory days…but sometimes in a bad way. This one is a different story though. It goes great with the bodysuit (duh) or a casual tank/tee tucked in or knotted.

‘Willa’ Tie Waist Jumpsuit

You’re probably hesitant. I know jumpsuits are risky – there is a lot to go wrong when you’re wearing a one piece! This one though…it’s the real deal. I’ve been pairing it with wedges this summer, and I can’t wait to wear it with a suede jacket and booties in the fall!

Where I Went

Believe it or not, I stayed in Texas all month! At the rate this year has been going, that seems almost unbelievable to say. I think I finally miss the airport (LOL). I got to take a last minute girls trip to Fredricksburg with my besties (a post on where to go, what to do, and where to stay to coming this week), and then spent weekends in Austin and Fort Worth for weddings!

What I Listened To

This month’s playlist is a little…eclectic, to say the least. There’s been a lot of throwbacks this month that have been on repeat (probably due to the #QuarterCenturyCrisis) and then some Flume, Glass Animals, and Chance the Rapper.

What I Learned

Why I should be embracing change , overcoming the fear of man (great sermon to listen to on your work commute), and the importance of taking a Sabbath. More on the last of those three – I think after all my summer travels came to a close, I crashed. I was exhausted in every way. I think it’s easy for us all in the culture of “being busy” to forget we need to truly rest.
